    Letters in today's Times-News:

National media's candidate won (my personal favorite)

NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, and national print media did it. Through their persistence and diligence, they facilitated the election of the 44th president. He might have been elected on his own, but neither he nor we will ever know. According to research by the Center for Media and Public Affairs, their coverage was so biased that no one from the other side could have overcome it. So, there they go. They feel like they know what plan is best for us, and they clearly have enough power to effect it. We wait with bated breath as they direct the next chapter in our nation's history.
Will it include weakening of our military and our strength as a world leader? Will they promote a shift toward the socialistic policies of the European countries they wish us to emulate? Will we lose our entrepreneurial spirit as we see our free market system disappear? And what about our trade policies? Will we enter an era of isolation and protectionism? Will our medical system become a national health care system? Will new carbon policies bankrupt every energy company? What about tax policy? Just what are their plans for the new age America? I hope they have carefully thought out their strategies for our country because for now, the cookie is in their hand. For goodness' sake, please don't break it.

( In a study I saw, over 70% of Americans believed the media was slanting coverage in Obama's favor, while only 9% believed they were for McCain.)

A new day of infamy for America

In a fashion similar to a dark day in our history 67 years ago, this December, Nov. 4, 2008 is a day that will live in infamy. Our forefathers are probably spinning in their graves that this assault on our liberty occurred from within. For the next four years, we are going to have to fight this group of socialists every step of the way. By their own admission, they want to redistribute wealth and give tax breaks to people who do not pay taxes. They want to invoke the Fairness Doctrine and assault free speech by destroying talk radio. They want to appoint activist, liberal judges who will reinterpret the Constitution.
If left unchecked, they will increase our taxes, nationalize and destroy the greatest health care system in the world and continue the national disgrace of murdering innocent children.
Become involved, or you will surrender even more of your liberty during the next four years.
    Shelton Stubbs

Voters have elected an empty suit

Once again American voters have demonstrated their abject incompetence in selecting the next leader of the free world. From the woman at an Obama rally who believed that, if elected, he will pay for her gas and the mortgage on her house to the man on the street in New York who, when asked if Obama made a good choice in Sarah Palin as a running mate, not only agreed it was indeed a good choice but that "... she will do a good job."? These are the people who have elected a man who has no credentials for the office, a background that he and his supporters have intentionally kept more mystery than fact, and longtime associations with those who have highly questionable motivations concerning our country. But he is good looking, articulate, and charismatic. He carries himself well and is a master at delivering speeches. Apparently, that's enough.
We have now raised several generations of voters in this country who have no knowledge of how their own government works. A presidential candidate like Barack Obama can get up in front of these people and say great things. He can promise things that the office does not grant him the power to deliver. But since most of those who are listening don't know what the duties and powers of the president are, they believe him.
At a time when our country has the greatest need for a strong leader with a clear direction, we have chosen instead a mere symbol, a talisman, or in more contemporary terms, an empty suit. For the next four years, we must be ever watchful that this inexperienced helmsman, with a course we cannot determine, does not run our great ship aground. Now more than ever it is time for citizenship in its most classic definition.

Ya wanna print one about keeping Appy open? I mean you printed a letter to the editor. It has SOOOO many requirements to get a letter in the KPT paper. Like it said,"many generations of voters who have no knowledge of how it works" and it got us 8 years of RR and 12 years ,combined ,of Bush. I'd say that is the worst 20 years in our history. Should I write a letter to the paper, they will print it, also.

I can't stand that Obama won but me not being able to stand it won't make John McCain the president over Obama. It's going to make us look like the democrats in the 2000 and 2004 elections.

I will respect Obama as the new president. However, I will not support his decisions until I am convinced that they really are making this country better. Good luck Obama.

You and I have different opinions. Not that Bush is the greatest president.

But back to the point, complaining is not going to change the results.

Just can't get over the fact that people keep saying President Elect Obama is going to ruin this country.

I bet 90 percent of those saying it voted for Dubya twice, so it should already be known they are great at choosing the next boss of the country.

And the title reads "Letters in today's Times-News". If you didn't want to, you didn't have to.
